7 Days in the SW of France

So I was lucky enough to spend the first week of June in Moilets and what a great way to start the summer it was. I stayed with Star Surf Camps, camping just a 5 minute walk from the open stretch of beach with funnelling barrels steaming up the sand.

The camp itself is an amazing setup. Huge pine trees loom over the tents and communal areas with hammocks gently swinging between. Along with a large Party tent theres a few ping pong tables, super comfy chairs for sun basking and a sweet projector setup for viewing surf films of an evening.

The atmosphere during my stay was what really made the trip for me. The camp is home to a fairly large and eclectic group of staff, professional surfers, yoga instructors, surf assistants, entertainers, photographers and one amazing chap with a serious milk drinking problem. All the crew at the camp really make your stay comfortable as well as a right ole laugh.

Surfing all day followed by a bit of sunset yoga was the general day to day. That with a few evenings of debauchery really made for a top week, drinking games and a bit of dance floor domination in town put smiles on everyones face.

Other highlights include a day trip to San Sebastian gorging on amazing tapas and cheap beers as well a 80’s fluro night surf during a roaring thunderstom.

30 Minutes with Josh

After a short stint out of the water I needed to get back into the swing of things and get some salt in my hair. Good friend and Phillack neighbour Josh Daniel suggests a little log shoot up at Godrevy so in the van I jump and we are off. Greeted by a bleak mid-tide bank and waist high dribblers we grab our suits and jump in. As expected the waves were pretty poor but Josh managed to snag a few fun ones as played with a few different angles. After 30 minutes floating we were done. Here’s a collection of shots from the session.

I don’t normally process black and white but its good to mix things up a little. Bring on summer.

5 Weeks in Nicaragua

I just hit the 5 week mark of my trip to Nicaragua and thought it was about time I made a little update on the blog.
Having a blast chasing waves around the coast and meeting some great people along the way. If you didn’t already know I am actually working with a Surf Camp out here shooting the waves and getting some pictures of clients for them to take home as a memory of their Nicaraguan experience.

The Camp itself ThunderBomb Surf Camp is a pretty impressive setup, a huge rancho right on the water with fun waves out front and a 5 minute drive for some pumping waves in each direction.
